The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day, at 12:10 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable David M. Wells, presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Campbell, Lang, Wells and White (4).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Mitchell (1).

In attendance: Martin Auger, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, and delegated on Monday, April 28, 2014 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee began its consideration of the medical, social, and operational impacts of mental health issues affecting serving and retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces, including operational stress injuries (OSIs) such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). WITNESSES:

Institute of Population Health, University of Ottawa:

Dr. Wayne Corneil, Affiliate Scientist.

The chair made an opening statement.

Dr. Corneil made a statement and answered questions.

At 1:15 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
