The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Terry Mercer, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Dagenais, Mercer, Ogilvie, Oh, Plett, Tardif and Unger (8).

In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, January 28, 2016, the committee continued its study on international market access priorities for the Canadian agricultural and agri-food sector. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1)

WITNESSES:

Michael Barrett, President and CEO.

Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL):

Jim Bradley, CEO and General Manager.

Ontario Sugar Beet Growers' Association:

Mark Lumley, Chair.

The deputy chair made a statement.

Mr. Barrett and Mr. Bradley made statements and answered questions.

At 8:58 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:04 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Lumley made a statement and answered questions.

At 9:44 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the deputy chair.
