The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8:04 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Diane F. Griffin, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black (Ontario), Dagenais, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Doyle, Griffin, Kutcher, Maltais, Miville-Dechêne and Oh (9).

In attendance: Corentin Bialais, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February15, 2018, the committee continued its study on how the value-added food sector can be more competitive in global markets. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 47.)

Ms.Gillis made a statement and answered questions.

At 9:17 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:23 a.m., the committee, resumed in camera to pursuant tothe order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March1, 2018, the committee continued its study on issuesrelating to agriculture and forestry generally. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 47.) Topic: Support and compensation for supply managed agricultural sectors in relation to the USMCA, CPTPP and CETA Trade Agreements

Pursuant to rule12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.

It was agreed that the committee allow the transcription of today's in camera meeting, and that one copy be kept by the clerk of the committee for consultation by committee members.

At 10:09 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
