The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8 a.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Diane F. Griffin, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black (Ontario), Dagenais, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Griffin, Kutcher, Mercer, Moodie and Oh (8).

In attendance: Corentin Bialais and Xavier Deschenes-Philion, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 1, 2018, the committee continued its study on issues relating to agriculture and forestry generally. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 47.) (Topic The matter of soil conditions in Canada, how soils are used and what steps are being taken to protect them.)
