The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 4:18 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable Carolyn Stewart Olsen, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dagenais, Gold, Marwah, Ringuette, Stewart Olsen, Tannas, Tkachuk, Unger, Wallin and Wetston (10).
In attendance: Andrew Barton, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 23, 2017, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-25, An Act to amend the Canada Business Corporations Act, the Canada Cooperatives Act, the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and the Competition Act. WITNESS:
Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board:
Paul Schneider, Head of Corporate Governance, Public Equities.
The deputy chair made a statement.
Mr. Schneider made a statement and answered questions.
At 4:46 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:37 p.m., the Honourable Senator Wallin was removed from the membership of the committee and the Honourable Senator Gold was added to the membership.
At 6:05 p.m., the committee resumed.
The deputy chair made a statement.
The Honourable Senator Tkachuk moved:
That the committee not proceed with clause by clause study and that clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C- 25 be postponed until Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was adopted on the following vote:
