The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 10:34 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Serge Joyal, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Boisvenu, Carignan, P.C., Dupuis, Gold, Jaffer, Joyal, P.C., Maltais, McIntyre, Pate, Pratte and Tkachuk (12).
In attendance: Julian Walker and Maxime Charron-Tousignant, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Chantale Lamarche, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 14, 2017, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-46, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (offences relating to conveyances) and to make consequential amendments to other Acts. At 10:10 a.m., the Honourable Senator Maltais replaced the Honourable Senator Tkachuk.
At 11:11 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:13 a.m., the committee resumed.
At 11:13 a.m., the Honourable Senator Tkachuk replaced the Honourable Senator Carignan, P.C.
Ms. Fox made a statement and answered questions.
At 11:38 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:40 a.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Kay and Mr. Wood each made a statement and answered questions.
At 12:36 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
