The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 6:10 p.m., in room 356-S, Centre Block, for the purpose of holding its organization meeting, pursuant to rule 12-13.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Chaput, Day, Eaton, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Smith (Saurel) and Wallace (7).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Alex Smith, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

The clerk of the committee presided over the election of the chair.

The Honourable Senator Smith (Saurel) moved:

That the Honourable Senator Day do take the chair of the committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The clerk invited Senator Day to take the chair.

The chair presided over the election of the deputy chair.

The Honourable Senator Eaton moved:

That the Honourable Senator Smith (Saurel) be deputy chair of the committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

It was agreed that the organization of this committee continue as that of the same committee that existed prior to the dissolution of the 41st Parliament, for the purposes of this week's meetings. (See the minutes of November 5, 2013, for the previous committee's organization meeting).

At 6:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
