The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day in camera at 6:04 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Cools, Doyle, Forest, Marshall, Mockler, Neufeld, Pratte, Raine and Tannas (10).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Sylvain Fleury, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, the committee continued its study on the Minister of Finance's proposed changes to the Income Tax Act respecting the taxation of private corporations and the tax planning strategies involved. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 39.)

It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remaining in the room during the in camera portion of the meeting.

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report in camera.

It was agreed:

That the draft report, as amended, be adopted on division;

That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be empowered to approve the final version of the report, taking into consideration this meeting's discussions, and with the necessary editorial, grammatical, and translation changes required.

It was agreed:

That the chair be authorized to table the report in the Senate, at the earliest opportunity.

At 8:44 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
