The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 1:30 p.m., room W120, Building 1, Wellington Street, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Boehm, Deacon (Ontario), Duncan, Eaton, Forest, Forest-Niesing, Klyne, Marshall, Mockler, Neufeld and Pratte (12).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Shaowei Pu, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 11, 2019, the committee continued its study of the expenditures set out in the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2020. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 93.)

WITNESSES:

Indigenous Services Canada:

Paul Thoppil, Chief Finances, Results and Delivery Officer;

Paul Pelletier, Director General, Education Branch;

Claudia Ferland, Director General, Regional Infrastructure Delivery Branch.

Infrastructure Canada:

Nathalie Bertrand, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Services;

Nathalie Lechasseur, Director General, Programs Integration, Program Operations.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation:

Evan Siddall, President and Chief Executive Officer;

Lisa Williams, Chief Financial Officer.

The chair made an opening statement.

Mr. Thoppil and Ms. Bertrand each made a statement. Mr. Siddall and Ms. Williams made a statement together. The four of them answered questions, together with Ms. Lechasseur, Mr. Pelletier, Ms. Williams and Ms. Ferland.

At 3:13 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
