The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 6:51 p.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington Street, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Black (Ontario), Boehm, Day, Duncan, Eaton, Forest, Forest-Niesing, Klyne, Marshall, Mockler and Pratte (12).
In attendance: Alex Smith and Shaowei Pu, analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, the committee began its consideration of Bill S-246, An Act to amend the Borrowing Authority Act.
WITNESSES:
The Honourable Senator Joseph A. Day, sponsor of the bill.
Department of Finance Canada:
Nicolas Moreau, Director General, Funds Management Division, Financial Sector Policy Branch;
James Wu, Senior Director, Funds Management Division, Financial Sector Policy Branch.
The chair made a statement.
The Honourable Senator Day made a statement and answered questions.
At 7:47 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 7:49 p.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Moreau and Mr. Wu made a statement and answered questions.
At 8:30 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 8:32 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room during the in camera portion of the meeting.
At 8:48 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
