The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera this day at 5:08 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Hubley, Manning, McInnis, Poirier, Raine, Stewart Olsen, Tkachuk and Watt (8).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).
After debate, it was agreed:
That the chair be authorized to seek an order of reference for the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans to examine and report on Maritime Search and Rescue activities, including current challenges and opportunities.; and
That the committee report from time to time to the Senate, but no later than November 30, 2017, and that the committee retain all powers necessary to publicize its findings for 180 days after the tabling of the final report.
At 5:38 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
