The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 5:17 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Christmas, Gold, Greene, Hartling, Manning, Munson, Plett, Poirier, Raine, Ringuette and Watt (11).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 23, 2017, the committee began its consideration of Bill S-238, An Act to amend the Fisheries Act and the Wild Animal and Plant Protection and Regulation of International and Interprovincial Trade Act (importation of shark fins).
WITNESS:
The Honourable Senator Michael L. MacDonald, sponsor of the bill.
The chair made a statement.
Senator MacDonald made a statement and answered questions.
At 6:10 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:13 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 6:27 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
