The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met in camera this day at 9:33 a.m., in room 356-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Joan Fraser, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Bellemare, Cools, Dupuis, Fraser, Gold, Housakos, Jaffer, Martin, Mégie, Plett, Ringuette, Seidman, Wells and White (15).

In attendance: David Groves and Sebastian Spano, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(a), the committee continued its consideration of amendments to the Rules of the Senate.

The committee considered draft amendments to the Rules of the Senate and made amendments to them.

It was agreed:

That the draft amendments, as amended, be adopted;

That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be authorized to finalize the draft amendments, as amended, as a report to the Senate; and

That the chair present the report to the Senate.

At 10:43 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
