The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 1:04 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Daniel Lang, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Day, Lang, Manning and White (4).

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, the committee began its examination of the subject matter of those elements contained in Division 2 of Part 4 of Bill C-15, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 22, 2016 and other measures.

It was agreed that the order of reference in relation to the subject matter of those elements contained in Division 2 of Part 4 of Bill C-15, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 22, 2016 and other measures, having been adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, be referred to the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs; and

That the committee's authority to meet even though the Senate may then be sitting, with the application of rule 12- 18(1) being suspended in relation thereto, for the purposes of such study be delegated to the subcommittee.

At 1:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
