The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day at 5:31 p.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Josée Verner, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Anderson, Arnot, Galvez, McBean, McCallum, Miville-Dechêne, Robinson, Verner, P.C., Wells and White (10).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Cotter, Gold, P.C., Oudar, Tannas and Yussuff (5).
Participating in the meeting: Jesse Good, Analyst, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 9, 2024, the committee continued its examination of the subject matter of those elements contained in Division 28 of Part 4 of Bill C-69, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 16, 2024.

At 7:00 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to discuss a draft report.
It was agreed that the committee allow the audio recording of the in camera portion of today’s meeting, that one copy be kept with the clerk of the committee for consultation by committee members or staff, and that the audio recording be destroyed by the clerk when authorized to do so by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, but no later than at the end of the current parliamentary session.
It was agreed that the draft report be adopted and that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be empowered to approve the final version of the report, taking into consideration this meeting’s discussions, and with any necessary editorial, grammatical and translation changes required.
It was agreed that the deputy chair be authorized to table the report in the Senate or with the Clerk of the Senate, in both official languages and at the earliest opportunity.
At 7:46 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 7:50 p.m., the committee resumed in public.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 23, 2024, the committee began its examination of the subject matter of Bill C-50, An Act respecting accountability, transparency and engagement to support the creation of sustainable jobs for workers and economic growth in a net-zero economy.
