Pursuant to the order of the Senate of May 5, 2022, the Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day in room W110, 1 Wellington Street, and with videoconference, at 5 p.m. ET, the chair, the Honourable René Cormier, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Clement, Cormier, Deacon (Ontario), Gagné, Mégie and Poirier (6).
Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Dagenais, Gignac, Mockler and Moncion (4).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Seidman (1).

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the committee began its examination of the subject matter of Bill C-13, An Act to amend the Official Languages Act, to enact the Use of French in Federally Regulated Private Businesses Act and to make related amendments to other Acts.
