Pursuant to the order of the Senate of November 25, 2021, the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, and with videoconference at 9:02 a.m. ET, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Kutcher, Quinn and Ravalia (4).

Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Busson, Christmas, Cordy, Cormier, Francis, Manning and McPhedran (7).

Participating in the meeting: Ericka Dupont, Procedural Clerk, Elda Donnelly and Brigitte Martineau, administrative assistants, Committees Directorate; Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Library of Parliament; Ben Silverman, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 10, 2022, the committee continued its study on the implementation of Indigenous rights-based fisheries across Canada.

Chief Allan Polchies Jr., Chief Wilbert Marshall and Janice Maloney each made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:59 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
