The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 11:30 a.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Ratna Omidvar, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bernard, Brazeau, Burey, Cordy, Cormier, Kingston, Moodie, Omidvar, Osler, Pate and Seidman (11).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Muggli and Senior (2).

Participating in the meeting: Mayra Perez-Leclerc and Kelly Farrah, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, the committee continued its study of Bill C-64, An Act respecting pharmacare.

The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada:

Dr. Diane Francoeur, Chief Executive Officer.

Canadian Pharmacists Association:

Joelle Walker, Vice-President, Professional and Public Affairs;

Dr. Danielle Paes, Chief Pharmacist Officer.

Canadian Association for Pharmacy Distribution Management:

Angelique Berg, President and Chief Executive Officer (by videoconference).

Association québécoise des pharmaciens propriétaires:

Benoit Morin, President;

Jean Bourcier, Vice-President and Chief Executive Officer.

Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada:

Dr. Shelita Dattani, Senior Vice-President, Pharmacy Affairs and Stakeholder Relations;

Marie-Claude Vézina, Board Chair.

Dr. Joss Reimer, Dr. Diane Francoeur and Joelle Walker each made a statement and, together with Dr. Danielle Paes, answered questions.

At 12:28 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 12:32 p.m., the committee resumed.

Angelique Berg, Benoit Morin and Dr. Shelita Dattani each made a statement and, together with Jean Bourcier, answered questions.

At 1:19 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
