The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met this day, at 9:02 a.m., the chair, the Honourable David Tkachuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Campbell, Carignan, Charette-Poulin, Comeau, Cordy, Di Nino, Downe, Furey, Kinsella, Marshall, Munson, Smith (Saurel), Stewart Olsen, Stratton, and Tkachuk (15).
In attendance: Mr. Gary W. O'Brien, Clerk of the Senate and other senior Senate officials.
IE/2012-05-31/165(C) — Adoption of Minutes of Proceedings
It was moved, by Senator Marshall, that the minutes of proceedings of May 10, 2012, public portion, be adopted.
The question being put on the motion, it was resolved in the affirmative.
IE/2012-05-31/166(C) — Succession Management Program
Linda Dodd, Director, Human Resources, informed the Committee that further to the review of the Third Quarterly Financial Report of the Senate of Canada for 2011-2012 on March 15, 2012, this committee requested further information regarding the Succession Management Program (SMP) as it was identified as a risk area in the report.
Ms. Dodd gave an overview of the Senate Administration's Succession Management Program which includes four (4) Phases: A) Review of critical functions and workforce analysis; B) Talent pool analysis; C) Learning and development plans and knowledge transfer strategies; and D) Management review. She identified the initiatives implemented to date and the communications strategy which will be followed.
At 9:15 a.m., the committee proceeded in camera.
At 10 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
