The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met this day at 8:30 a.m., in room 160- S, Centre Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable George J. Furey, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Campbell, Fraser, Furey, Housakos, Hubley, Lang, LeBreton, P.C., Manning, Marshall, Munson, Smith (Saurel), Tkachuk, Wells and White (14).

Also in attendance: Charles Robert, Clerk of the Senate and Clerk of the Parliaments and Chief Legislative Officer, Michel Patrice, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel and Chief, Parliamentary Precinct Services and other senior Senate officials.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

CIBA/2015-04-23/211(P) — Adoption of Minutes of Proceedings

It was moved by Senator Munson that the minutes of proceedings of March 26, 2015, public portion, be adopted.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The Honourable Larry Smith (Saurel) presented the thirteenth report of the subcommittee as follows:

Your subcommittee recommends the release of the following amounts for fiscal year 2015-2016:

Aboriginal Peoples (First Nations infrastructure on reserves)

It was moved by Senator Smith (Saurel) that the thirteenth report of the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets be adopted.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

CIBA/2015-04-23/213(P) Creation of the Subcommittee on Communications

It was moved by the Honourable Senator Tkachuk that a Subcommittee on Senate Communications be established and that the following Senators be named as members: The Honourable Senators Housakos (Chair), Wells, and Cordy and that the Honourable Senators Dawson and Batters be non-voting participants.

The mandate of the Subcommittee on Senate Communications will be to advise the Senate on communications strategy and implementation.

The subcommittee will report to the Internal Economy Committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

At 8:42 a.m., the committee continued in camera.

At 9:33 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
