The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met this day at 8:32 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, for the purpose of electing a chair.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Campbell, Cordy, Downe, Fraser, Greene, Housakos, Lang, LeBreton, P.C., Marshall, Munson, Smith (Saurel), Tkachuk, Wells and White (15).

Also in attendance: Nicole Proulx, Chief Corporate Services Officer and Clerk of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration, Charles Robert, Clerk of the Senate and Clerk of the Parliaments and Chief Legislative Officer, Michel Patrice, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel and Chief, Parliamentary Precinct Services and other senior Senate officials.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to rule12-13, the clerk of the committee presided over the election of the chair.

The Honourable Senator Downe moved:

That the Honourable Senator Housakos do take the chair of this committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The clerk invited Senator Housakos to take the chair.

At 8:34 a.m., the committee continued in camera.

At 9:06 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
