The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met this day, at 9:04 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Leo Housakos, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Batters, Campbell, Cordy, Downe, Dupuis, Housakos, Jaffer, Lankin, P.C., Marshall, Marwah, McCoy, Mitchell, Munson, Saint-Germain, Smith, Tannas, Tkachuk and Wells (19).
Also in attendance: Nicole Proulx, Clerk of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration and Chief Corporate Services Officer; Michel Patrice, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel and Chief, Parliamentary Precinct Services; and other senior Senate officials.

Pursuant to rule12-7(1) of the Rules of the Senate, the committee continued its consideration of financial and administrative matters concerning the Senate's internal administration.

That the minutes of proceedings of April13, 2017, in public portion, be adopted.

Pascale Legault made a statement and answered questions.
The Honourable Senator Tkachuk moved:
That the committee authorize the Senate Administration to initiate a competitive process in order to award a 3-year contract with 2 additional optional years for a value that will not exceed $130,000.

It was agreed that the Royal Canadian Mint be awarded the sole source contract in the amount of $223,920 to produce the Senate 150th Anniversary Medals.

It was agreed that this item be postponed to the next meeting of the committee.

The chair made a statement about the publication by the Senate of the pamphlet ``The Wise Owls''. Honourable Senators also made statements.
At 9:58 a.m., the committee continued in camera, pursuant to rule12-16(1).
It was agreed:
That the Advisory Working Group on the Review of Human Resources be authorized to examine the Senate Policy on the Prevention and Resolution of Harassment in the Workplace and provide to the committee recommendations to update the policy; and
That the advisory working group report to the committee no later than December31, 2017.
After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
