The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day, at 9:31 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Bellemare, Boehm, Deacon (Ontario), Eaton, Forest, Forest-Niesing, Klyne, Marshall, Mockler, Moncion and Pratte (12).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Shaowei Pu, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, the committee continued its study on the subject matter of all of Bill C-86, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 27, 2018 and other measures. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 81.)

Status of Women Canada:

Danielle Bélanger, Director, GBA Plus and Strategic Policy, Policy and External Relations Directorate.

Ms. Bélanger made a statement and answered questions.

At 9:52 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:55 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft report.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, the committee continued its study on the Supplementary Estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 80.)

It was agreed that the staff of the committee members be permitted to remain in the room during the in camera portion of the meeting.

The committee reviewed a draft report.

It was agreed that the draft report, as amended, be adopted;

It was agreed that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be empowered to approve the final version of the report, taking into consideration this meeting's discussions, and with any necessary editorial, grammatical and translation changes required.

It was agreed that the chair be authorized to table the report in the Senate, at the earliest opportunity.

At 11:04 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:07 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d) the committee resumed in camera to consider another draft report.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, the committee continued its study on the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 67.)

The committee reviewed a draft report.

It was agreed that the draft report, as amended, be adopted;

It was agreed that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be empowered to approve the final version of the report, taking into consideration this meeting's discussions, and with any necessary editorial, grammatical and translation changes required.

It was agreed that the chair be authorized to table the report in the Senate, at the earliest opportunity.

At 11:40 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
