The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 9:48 a.m., in the Acadian Room of the Crowne Plaza Moncton Downtown, the chair, the Honourable René Cormier, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cormier, Gagné, McIntyre, Mégie, Moncion and Poirier (6).
In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 6, 2017, the committee continued to examine and report on Canadians' views about modernizing the Official Languages Act. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 12.)
WITNESSES:
Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages for New Brunswick:
Michel Carrier, Acting Commissioner of Official Languages for New Brunswick;
Hugues Beaulieu, Executive Director.

The chair began the meeting.
The Honourable Senator Moncion moved:
That the communications staff be authorized to take photos during the meeting.
The question being put on the motion, it was carried.
Mr. Carrier and Mr. Beaulieu made statements and answered questions.
At 10:49 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:01 a.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Caron made a statement and answered questions.
At 11:44 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
