The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 3:15 p.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Chantal Petitclerc, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Eaton, Forest-Niesing, Kutcher, Mégie, Munson, Oh, Omidvar, Pate, Petitclerc, Poirier, Ravalia and Seidman (12).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Dasko and Klyne (2).

In attendance: Jean-Philippe Duguay and Laura Munn-Rivard, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 2, 2019, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-83, An Act to amend the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and another Act. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 59.)

At 4:19 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 4:24 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Godin and Mr. Brown made statements and answered questions.

At 5:17 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 5:46 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Zinger and Ms. Landry made statements and, together with Ms. Keith, answered questions.

At 6:30 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
