The Honourable Senator Gerstein, Chair of the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce, presented its eleventh report (Bill S-17, An Act to implement conventions, protocols, agreements and a supplementary convention, concluded between Canada and Namibia, Serbia, Poland, Hong Kong, Luxembourg and Switzerland, for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes, without amendment).

The Honourable Senator Greene moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Duffy, that the bill be placed on the Orders of the Day for a third reading at the next sitting.

The Honourable Senator Andreychuk, Chair of the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, presented its twelfth report (Bill C-383, An Act to amend the International Boundary Waters Treaty Act and the International River Improvements Act, without amendment).

The Honourable Senator Andreychuk moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Lang, that the bill be placed on the Orders of the Day for a third reading at the next sitting.

Introduction and First Reading of Government Bills

A message was brought from the House of Commons with a Bill C-15, An Act to amend the National Defence Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, to which it desires the concurrence of the Senate.

First Reading of Commons Public Bills

A message was brought from the House of Commons with a Bill C-394, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the National Defence Act (criminal organization recruitment), to which it desires the concurrence of the Senate.
