MESSAGES FROM THE HOUSE OF COMMONS
A message was brought from the House of Commons to return Bill S-240, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (trafficking in human organs),
And to acquaint the Senate that the Commons has passed this bill with the following amendment, to which it desires the concurrence of the Senate.
The amendment was then read by the Honourable the Speaker, as follows:
1. Clause 2, page 2:
(a)replace line 3 with the following:
“person from whom it was removed or a person lawfully authorized to consent on behalf of the person from whom it was removed did not give in-”
(b)replace line 8 with the following:
“knowing that the person from whom it was removed or a person lawfully authorized to consent on behalf of the person from whom it was removed”
(c)replace lines 12 to 15 with the following:
“(c) does anything in connection with the removal of an organ from the body of another person on behalf of, at the direction of or in association with the person who removes the organ, knowing that the person from whom it was removed or a person lawfully authorized to consent on behalf of the person from whom it was removed did not give informed consent”
(d)delete lines 18 to 23; and
(e)delete lines 34 to 39.
The Honourable Senator Housakos moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Martin, that the message be placed on the Orders of the Day for consideration at the next sitting.

The Honourable Senator Joyal, P.C., moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Day, that the report be adopted.
