While senators’ duties are mainly as legislators within Parliament, their work also takes them far beyond. Learn more about some of their activities.

Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17 – Senator Victor Oh attends the Global Parliamentary Conference and the Parliamentary Working Session on Youth Jobs Creation at the World Bank Group headquarters in Washington, D.C.  

Wednesday, April 18 – Senator Leo Housakos attends an event honouring founders and past presidents of the Hellenic Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. Senator Housakos is one of the three founders of the board.

Thursday, April 19 – Senator Chantal Petitclerc participates in a SENgage student-outreach event and speaks about the Senate’s work to students at Collège Saint-Alexandre in Gatineau, Que.

Friday, April 20 – Senator Yonah Martin joins Korean War veterans and other distinguished guests and members of the Korean Canadian community to commemorate the 67th Anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong and the heroic actions of the 2nd Battalion of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry forces during the Korean War.

Saturday, April 21 – Senator Ratna Omidvar speaks in support of Bill C-45, the Cannabis Act, at the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario’s annual general meeting.

Monday, April 23 – Senator Peter Harder, left, attends a Sugar Shack Breakfast in support of the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign with Principal Clerk Heather Lank and Interim Clerk of the Senate Richard Denis.

Tuesday, April 24 – Senator Richard Neufeld, third from the left, takes part in a panel discussion with industry representatives about the safe and efficient transportation of oil at the Tanker and Pipeline Safety Awareness Session on Parliament Hill. 

Thursday, April 26 – Senator Yonah Martin and Senator Joseph Day join Korean War veterans, Korean Ambassador Maeng-Ho Shin, representatives of the diplomatic corps, parliamentarians, Defence Attaché Col. Chang Bae Yoon, past and current members of the Canadian military, and members of the Korean community at the site of the Monument to Canadian Fallen in Ottawa.

Friday, April 27 — Senator Victor Oh meets with Grade 5 students at McMurrich Junior Public School in Toronto. Senator Oh spoke to students about the role of the Senate in Parliament and how senators represent Canadians in Parliament as part of a SENgage student-outreach event.
