Wednesday, May 30 – Senator Percy E. Downe packs back-to-school kits for students of West Kent Elementary School in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island as part of the 4th Annual TELUS Days of Giving volunteer program on Parliament Hill.

Thursday, May 31 – Senator Ratna Omidvar, Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Migration, participates in a panel discussion in Washington, D.C. hosted by the Center for Global Development entitled “Migration is What you Make it: How Policy Choices Shape the Benefits and Costs.” Panellists discussed how international co-operation and innovative approaches can help governments develop safer, fairer and more humane migration policies. Other panellists included Lead Economist at the World Bank David McKenzie (left) and Co-director of Migration, Displacement, and Humanitarian Policy at the Center for Global Development Michael Clemens (right).
Friday, June 8 – Senator Yvonne Boyer receives an Honorary Doctorate in Education from Nipissing University. Senator Boyer is the first Métis Ontarian appointed to the Senate. A former nurse and practicing lawyer, she is critical of inequities in Canada’s health-care system when it comes to access and treatment available to Indigenous Peoples.
Tuesday, June 12 – Senator Mobina S. B. Jaffer meets Dr. Lobsang Sangay (middle), President of the Central Tibetan Administration and political successor to His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet. Senator Jaffer’s summer intern, Dorjee (left), has joined the senator’s staff as part of the Canada Tibet Internship Program.
