Thursday, December 10, 2020 – Senator Dennis Patterson discusses with the Ontario Legislature interns on the occasion of their virtual legislative study tour of Parliament Hill.
Friday, December 11, 2020 – Senator Peter Harder, who is an alumnus of the Parliamentary Internship Programme (PIP), meets with this year’s cohort of parliamentary interns. The 10 young professionals work closely with Members of Parliament on both sides of the House.
Wednesday, December 16, 2020 — Senators Percy Downe and Diane Griffin join the Canada-Korea Interparliamentary Friendship Group’s year-end virtual event celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement implementation bill and other 2020 milestones.
Thursday, December 17, 2020 – Senators Kim Pate and Josée Forest-Niesing help Grade 12 law students of Strathroy District Collegiate Institute in Strathroy, Ontario, with their summative mock trial last December. Senator Pate met students virtually to help them prepare their cases for a murder trial judged later that week by Senator Forest-Niesing. (The defence won!)
Wednesday, January 13, 2021 – Senator Paula Simons participates in a podcast run by YWCA Edmonton and Parity YEG to commemorate 100 years since the first woman was elected to city council in Edmonton. Searching for Izena: ‘Unwomanly’ Stories of Female Leadership at Edmonton City Hall tells the largely untold stories of trailblazers like Izena Ross, the first woman elected to the Edmonton city council on December 12, 1921.
Saturday, January 16, 2021 — Senator Murray Sinclair joins a seminar at the University of Manitoba to have an honest conversation on Indigenous people and Canada’s criminal justice system.
Monday, January 18, 2021 – Senator Paula Simons discusses her role and responsibilities as a Canadian senator with social studies students at S. Bruce Smith High located in Edmonton.
Tuesday, January 19, 2021 – Senator Yvonne Boyer meets with Métis community leaders from the Oshawa, Durham, Toronto, and York regions to speak about her work in the Senate and how she can better represent their needs.
Wednesday, January 20, 2021 — Senators Marilou McPhedran and Josée Forest-Niesing participate in a panel discussing with other parliamentarians at the University of Ottawa’s virtual model Parliament.
Wednesday, January 20, 2021 – Senator Robert Black meets virtually with representatives of the North Simcoe Agriculture Advisory Committee to discuss the carbon tax and the Clean Fuel Standard.
Friday, January 22, 2021 – Senator Rosemary Moodie speaks virtually to Grade 5 students at Firgrove Public School in Toronto about the Senate’s work in Parliament. The senator also fielded questions about her role as a senator.
