Friday, January 1, 2021 – Senator Paula Simons acts as lieutenant governor for the 101st session of TUXIS Youth Parliament of Alberta.
Monday, January 11, 2021 – Senator Tony Loffreda joins TV hosts Nick De Vincenzo and Silvana Di Flavio on their Italian-language talk show, Appuntamento, on ICI Television. The senator is a regular on the program, which allows him to stay connected with the Italian community in Canada and promote the work of the Senate.
Monday, January 18, 2021 – Senators Stan Kutcher and Wanda Elaine Thomas Bernard co-host a Facebook Live series called The Pandemic of Racism, which continues conversations related to racial injustice and resetting institutions. Session 1, “An Introduction on Systemic Racism and Intersectionality” included special guests the Honourable Lillian Dyck, a former senator, and Dr. Wesley Crichlow.
Tuesday, January 19, 2021 – Senator Yvonne Boyer meets with Métis community leaders from the Windsor-Essex-Kent region to hear their perspectives and learn how to better represent their needs in the Senate.
Thursday, January 28 – Senator Patricia Bovey speaks at a special guest lecture with Fanshawe College’s Fine Art students. The topic of the lecture was “Arts in the Senate.”
Friday, January 29, 2021 – Senator Tony Loffreda, along with other Senate colleagues, hosts a webinar on Canadian immigration and emigration with special guest panelist John Stackhouse from RBC.
Tuesday, February 2, 2021 – Senator Wanda Elaine Thomas Bernard kicks off MacEwan University’s Black History Month 2021 virtual series. She engaged with students, staff and alumni in celebrating, mourning and providing hope in building a more inclusive Canadian society.
