Tuesday, March 8, 2022 — Senator Lucie Moncion speaks to students from Innisdale Secondary School in Barrie, Ontario, about her role at the Senate, during an event coordinated by SENgage. She shared her thoughts on the invocation of the Emergencies Act and answered questions about international relations.
Tuesday, March 8, 2022 — Senator Hassan Yussuff virtually visits Ms. Tat’s Grade 7 and 8 students at J.B. Tyrrell Senior Public School in Scarborough, Ontario. The senator shared the story of his appointment to the Senate and how he felt when he spoke in the Red Chamber for the first time. The classroom visit was organized in partnership with SENgage.
Monday, March 14, 2022 — Senator Julie Miville-Dechêne meets virtually with 80 students from the University of Ottawa. Their discussion covered various topics, including links between politics and the media, as well as representation and gender balance in the Senate.
Tuesday, March 15, 2022 — Senator Rob Black visits Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm located in Edwards, Ontario, a rural community in the Ottawa area. He learned more about the maple syrup industry and observed how sap is collected with buckets and turned into syrup with a traditional wood-burning evaporator.
Wednesday, March 16, 2022 — Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard moderates and participates in a virtual panel marking National Social Work Month, hosted by the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. Senator Bernard and the guest speakers discussed the 10 key principles of social policy framework.
Wednesday, March 16, 2022 — Senator Michèle Audette meets with members of several human rights organizations to discuss Bill S-211, the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act. The virtual meeting was attended by members of Above Ground, the Canadian Network on Corporate Accountability, the Syndicat des Métallos, the Centre international de solidarité ouvrière and the Association québécoise des organismes de coopération internationale.

Wednesday, March 16, 2022 — Senator Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu participates in a meeting with representatives of Indigenous community organizations based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, organized by Senator Mary Jane McCallum. Senator Boisvenu discussed his Bill S-205, which would make multiple amendments to the Criminal Code with respect to bail and other orders related to intimate partner violence offences.

The virtual meeting was hosted by Senator Victor Oh, chair of the Canada-Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship Group.
