The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day in Room 705, Victoria Building at 10:00 a.m., the Acting Chairman, the Honourable Colin Kenny, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Cohen, Cook, DeWare, Ferretti Barth, Gigantès, Johnstone, Kenny, Kinsella, LeBreton, Maheu and Murray (12).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Research Officer.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, June 8, 1998, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (Part 1) and the Corporations and Labour Unions Returns Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day in Room 356-S, Centre Block at 3:30 p.m., the Chairman, the Honourable Lowell Murray, presiding.

It was agreed that the committee would sit on Friday, June 12th to hear additional witnesses on Bill C-19.
The Chairman informed the committee that an in camera meeting would be held on Monday, June 15th to consider the interim draft report on the Federal Child Support Guidelines.
The Chairman made a statement of introduction.
The Honourable Senator Kinsella moved that the committee researcher prepare an outline of remedies available to the Board in relation to unfair labour practices.
After discussion, the question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
