The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day, in camera, at 10:49 a.m., in room 256-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Gerald J. Comeau, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Comeau, Hubley, Mahovlich, and St. Germain P.C. (5).

In attendance: Claude Emery, Research Analyst, Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 28, 2004, the committee continued its examination of issues relating to the federal government's new and evolving policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans. (For complete text of Order of Reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1, dated October 7, 2004.)

The committee considered its agenda pursuant to rule 92(2)(e).

At 11:51 a.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.

The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day, at 7:05 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Gerald J. Comeau, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Comeau, Hubley, Mahovlich, St. Germain, P.C., and Watt (6).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Robichaud, P.C. (1).

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 28, 2004, the committee continued its examination of issues relating to the federal government's new and evolving policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans. Mr. McCurdy, Ms. Hunt, and Messrs. Cloutier, Siegel, Nickerson, and Paugh made statements and, with Mr. Sutcliffe, answered questions.

At 12:26 p.m., the committee proceeded in camera, pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), to consider its agenda.

At 12:31 p.m., the committee resumed in public.

The Honourable Senator Comeau moved that the committee adopt the following draft budget application for its study of the federal government's framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2006.

All Other Expenditures    17,000
Total    $ 361,146

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

At 12:33 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
