The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met at 4:01 p.m. this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable Wilbert J. Keon presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Cochrane, Gill, Kinsella, Keon, LeBreton, Morin, Pépin, Trenholme Counsell (9).

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore, Research Analyst, Science and Technology and Robin MacKay, Research Officer, Law and Government Division.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, the committee began its examination of Bill S-2, An Act to amend the Citizenship Act.

It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of the Bill.

It was agreed that the Title stand postponed.

It was agreed that clause 1 carry.

It was agreed that the title carry.

It was agreed that the bill be adopted without amendment and that the Chair report the bill at the next sitting of the Senate.

At 4:05 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.

The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met at 11:31 a.m. this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable Wilbert J. Keon presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Cochrane, Cook, Keon, Morin, Pépin, Trenholme Counsell (8).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Hubley.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore, Research Analyst, Science and Technology and Andrew Kitching, Analyst, Law and Government Division.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, the committee began its examination of Bill S-9, An Act to amend the Copyright Act.

WITNESSES:

Canadian Photographers Coalition:

André Cornellier, Photographer and Copyright Vice-President;

Brian Boyle, Photographer — New Media Resources, Royal Ontario Museum.

Mr. Boyle and Mr. Cornellier each made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:26 p.m., it was agreed that the Committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
