The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met at 4:15 p.m. this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Art Eggleton, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Champagne, P.C., Cochrane, Cook, Eggleton P.C., Fairbairn P.C., Keon, Nancy Ruth, Pépin, and Watt (10).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Gill and Adams (2).
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament Research Branch: Sonya Norris, Research Analyst, Political and Social Affairs Division; Nancy Miller-Chenier, Research Analyst, Political and Social Affairs Division; and Marlisa Tiedemann, Research Analyst, Law and Government Division.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee met in camera for the purpose of considering a draft report.
It was agreed that staff be permitted to stay.
Mr. Mark Audcent, Senate Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel made a statement.
At 5:41 p.m., the committee suspended its sitting.
At 5:50 p.m., the committee resumed it sitting.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, September 28, 2006, the committee continued its examination on Bill C-5, respecting the establishment of the Public Health Agency of Canada and amending certain acts. (See Issue No. 6, Thursday, October 19, 2006, for the full text of the Order of Reference.)

It was agreed that the committee move to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-5.
It was agreed that the title stand postponed.
