The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day, at 12:11 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Michael A. Meighen, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Banks, Day, Downe, Meighen and Nancy Ruth (5).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Dallaire (1).
In attendance: Shaila Anwar, Co-clerk of the Committee, Committees Directorate; James S. Cox, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Captain (N) John Gardam, Military Liaison Officer.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 and delegated on Monday, November 26, 2007 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee continued its study on the services and benefits provided to veterans in recognition of their services to Canada. Brigadier-General David Martin, Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency.
The chair made opening remarks.
Brigadier-General Martin and Mr. Bouchard each made a statement and answered questions.
It was agreed that the organization chart presented by the witnesses be printed as an appendix to this day's Minutes of Proceedings (see Appendix 5900-2.39/V1-SS-1, 5 ``1'').
At 1:24 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
