The Committee of Selection met this day at 9:32 a.m. in Room 356-S, Centre Block.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cochrane, Di Nino, Fairbairn, P.C., Fraser, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Munson, Robichaud, P.C., Stratton and Tkachuk (9).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Corbin and McCoy (2).
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
The committee proceeded with nomination of senators to serve on select committees.
The committee proceeded with nomination of senators to serve on the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Sibbeston, Campbell, Carstairs, P.C., Dyck, Hubley, Lovelace Nicholas and Peterson be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable St. Germain, P.C., Brazeau, Lang, Brown and Raine be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
The committee proceeded with the nomination of senators to serve on the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Baker, P.C., Callbeck, Fairbairn, P.C.n, P.C., Mahovlich, Mercer, Milne and Lovelace Nicholas be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Housakos, Eaton, Mockler, Duffy and Rivard be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
The committee proceeded with the nomination of senators to serve on the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Goldstein, Ringuette, Harb, Moore, Massicotte, Fox, P.C. and Hervieux-Payette, P.C. be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Meighen, Gerstein, Oliver, Greene and Eyton be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
The committee proceeded with the nomination of senators to serve on the Standing Senate Committee on Energy, Environment and Natural Resources.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Adams, Kenny, Merchant, Mitchell, Sibbeston, Banks and Peterson be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Energy, Environment and Natural Resources.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Angus, Spivak, Neufeld, St. Germain, P.C. and Lang be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources.

The committee proceeded with the nomination of senators to serve on the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Rompkey, P.C., Adams, Campbell, Cook, Robichaud, P.C., Hubley and Watt be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Cochrane, MacDonald, Manning, Johnson and Raine be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans.

The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Stollery, Corbin, De Bané, P.C., Grafstein, Downe, Mahovlich and Dawson be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Di Nino, Andreychuk, Wallin, Segal and Fortin-Duplessis be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Furey, Cordy, Downe, Dawson, Jaffer, Robichaud, P.C., Stollery, Munson and Massicotte be nominated to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Tkachuk, Comeau, MacDonald, Kinsella, Rivard and Greene be nominated to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.

The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Dickson, Nolin, Rivest, Angus and Wallace be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs.

The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Jaffer, Baker, P.C. and Carstairs, P.C., be nominated to the Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Stratton and Greene be nominated to the Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament.

The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Prud’homme, P.C., Gerstein, Nancy Ruth, Di Nino and Neufeld be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance.

The committee proceeded with the nomination of senators to serve on National Security and Defence.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Kenny, Banks, Day, Moore and Zimmer be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Wallin, Manning, Meighen and Tkachuk be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence.

The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Chaput, Losier-Cool, Jaffer, Goldstein and Poulin be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Champagne, P.C., Mockler, Comeau, and Fortin-Duplessis be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
The committee proceeded with the nomination of senators to serve on the Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Fraser, Furey, Joyal, P.C., Losier-Cool, Robichaud, P.C., Smith, P.C., Corbin, Cools and McCoy be nominated to the Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Oliver, Nolin, Keon, Duffy, Brown and Andreychuk be nominated to the Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
The committee proceeded with the nomination of senators to serve on the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Moore, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Bryden and Cook be nominated to the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Eyton, Wallace and Dickson be nominated to the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
The committee proceeded with the nomination of senators to serve on the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Eggleton, P.C., Callbeck, Cook, Cordy, Fairbairn, P.C., Dyck and Pépin be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Keon, Champagne, P.C., Eaton, Martin and Segal be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology.

The committee proceeded with the nomination of senators to serve on the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senators Bacon, Adams, Dawson, Fox, P.C., Mercer, Zimmer and Merchant be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications.
The Honourable Senator Stratton moved, — That the Honourable Senators Johnson, Eyton, Housakos, Cochrane and Wallace be nominated to the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
The Honourable Senator Di Nino moved, — That the chair report to the Senate the nominations agreed to at this day’s meeting.

The Honourable Senator Tkachuk resigned as chair.
The clerk of the committee presided over the election of the chair.
The Honourable Senator Munson moved, — That the Honourable Senator Stratton do take the chair of this committee.
