The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 4:16 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Art Eggleton, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Champagne, P.C., Cordy, Eggleton, P.C., Keon, Martin, Ogilvie, Raine and Seidman (9).
In attendance: Havi Echenberg and Daniel Thompson, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 18, 2010, the committee continued its study on accessibility of post-secondary education in Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

The Honourable Senator Ogilvie moved:
That the following special study budget application (post-secondary education in Canada) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011, in the amount of $ 11,840, be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:
Summary of Expenditures
Professional and Other Services $ 11,840 Transportation and Communications 0 All Other Expenditures 0 TOTAL $ 11,840
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The Honourable Senator Martin, moved:
That the following special study budget application (current social issues pertaining to Canada's largest cities) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011, in the amount of $ 31,364, be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:

Professional and Other Services $ 14,750 Transportation and Communications 6,614 All Other Expenditures 10,000 TOTAL $ 31,364
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
