The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 10:30 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable Percy E. Downe, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Demers, Downe, Housakos, Hubley, Johnson, Nolin, Robichaud, P.C., Segal, Smith, P.C. (Cobourg) and Wallace (10).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator De Bané, P.C. (1).

In attendance: Brian Hermon and Erin Shaw, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Friday, June 22, 2012, the committee continued its examination of Bill S-10, An Act to implement the Convention on Cluster Munitions. (For the complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 14.)

WITNESSES:

Titus Peachey, Director of Peace Education (by video conference).

Messrs. Poston and Wiebe made statements and answered questions.

At 11:30 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:33 a.m., the committee resumed.

Messrs. Drolet, Peachey and Mme Libertucci made statements and answered questions.

At 12:23 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the deputy chair.
