The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera this day at 5:15 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Harb, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Hubley, MacDonald, Manning, McInnis, Oliver, Poirier, Runciman and Unger (10).
In attendance: François Côté and Odette Madore, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 20, 2011, the committee continued its study on the management of the grey seal population off Canada's East Coast. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.
After debate, the text of the report, with the changes as discussed today, was adopted, on division. It was agreed that the committee meet again to discuss the communication strategy.
At 6:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
