The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 8:03 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Harb, Hubley, MacDonald, Manning, McInnis, Oliver, Poirier, Raine and Unger (9).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Baker, P.C. (1).
In attendance: Penny Becklumb and Odette Madore, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, the committee began its consideration on Bill S-13, An Act to amend the Coastal Fisheries Protection Act.
APPEARING:
The Honourable Gail Shea, P.C., M.P., Acting Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.
WITNESSES:
Fisheries and Oceans Canada:
David Bevan, Acting Deputy Minister;
France Pégeot, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy Sector;
Michael Pearson, Director General, International Affairs, Strategic Policy Sector.
Minister Shea made a statement and, together with Mr. Bevan, Ms. Pégeot and Mr. Pearson, answered questions.
At 9:00 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:03 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 9:21 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
