The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day, at 1:04 p.m. in room 356-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Mobina S. B. Jaffer, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Brazeau, Harb, and Jaffer (5).

In attendance: Julian Walker, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

The Honourable Senator Ataullahjan moved:

That, subject to the approval of the Senate of the proposed order of reference for the special study on issues pertaining to the human rights of First Nations band members who reside off-reserve, the following budget application in the amount of $ 129,174 be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:

Summary of Expenditures:

Professional and Other Services	$ 7,000
Transportation and Communications	103,224
All Other Expenditures	18 950
TOTAL	$ 129,174

After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

At 1:09 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
