The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 4:18 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Cordy, Champagne, P.C., Demers, Eaton, Eggleton, P.C., Martin, Merchant, Ogilvie, Seidman and Zimmer (11).

In attendance: Karin Phillips and Michel-Ange Pantal, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, the committee began its study on Bill S-206, An Act respecting World Autism Awareness Day.

WITNESS:

The Honourable Senator Jim Munson, sponsor of the bill.

The chair made a statement.

The Honourable Senator Munson made a statement and answered questions.

It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill S-206, An Act respecting World Autism Awareness Day.

It was agreed that title stand postponed.

It was agreed that the preamble stand postponed.

It was agreed that clause 1 stand postponed.

It was agreed that clause 2 carry.

It was agreed that clause 1 carry.

It was agreed that the preamble, carry.

It was agreed that the title carry.

It was agreed that the bill carry.

It was agreed that the chair report the bill to the Senate.

At 5:09 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
