The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 4:15 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable Percy E. Downe, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Dawson, Demers, Downe, Fortin-Duplessis, Housakos, Johnson, Oh, Robichaud, P.C., Smith, P.C. (Cobourg), and Verner, P.C. (11).

In attendance: Mark Palmer, Acting Procedural Clerk; Erin Shaw and James Lee, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 07, 2014, the committee began its examination of Bill C-6, An Act to implement the Convention on Cluster Munitions.

WITNESSES:

Paul Hannon, Executive Director;

Erin Hunt, Program Coordinator.

PAX:

Frank Slijper, Policy Adviser, Security and Disarmament (by video conference).

Cluster Munition Coalition:

Sarah Blakemore, Campaign Director (by video conference).

As an individual:

Lynn Bradach (by video conference).

The chair made an opening statement.

Mr. Hannon, Ms. Hunt and Mr. Slijper each made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:17 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 5:18 p.m., the committee resumed.

Ms. Blakemore and Ms. Bradach each made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
