The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 7:04 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, Dagenais, Eaton, Maltais, Mercer, Mockler, Oh, Plett and Robichaud, P.C. (9).
In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Mona Ishack, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-30, An Act to amend the Canada Grain Act and the Canada Transportation Act and to provide for other measures.

It was agreed that the committee invite the departmental officials present to come to the table to answer any technical questions that may arise during clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-30.
It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-30, An Act to amend the Canada Grain Act and the Canada Transportation Act and to provide for other measures.
It was agreed that the title stand postponed.
It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, stand postponed.

It was agreed that the chair, deputy chair and the sponsor of the bill, the Honourable Senator Plett, be empowered to approve the final version of the observations being appended to the report taking into consideration today's discussion and with any necessary editorial, grammatical or translation changes as required.
It was agreed that Bill C-30 be reported with observations to the Senate at the earliest opportunity.
