The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8:01 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dagenais, Enverga, Maltais, Merchant, Ogilvie, Oh, Plett, Tardif and Unger (9).
In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly and Jed Chong, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
The clerk informed the committee of the unavoidable absences of the chair and deputy chair and presided over the election of an acting chair.
The Honourable Senator Unger moved:
That the Honourable Senator Maltais be the acting chair.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The acting chair took the chair.
At 8:03 a.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-18, An Act to amend certain Acts relating to agriculture and agri-food. At 9:12 a.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Homes and Ms. Gagnon-Légaré made statements and answered questions.
At 9:58 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
