The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met in camera this day at 10:31 a.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Irving Gerstein, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Campbell, Gerstein, Greene, MacDonald, Maltais, Massicotte, Ringuette, Tannas and Tkachuk (10).
In attendance: Adriane Yong and Michaël Lambert-Racine, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, the committee continued its study on the use of digital currency. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 6.)
It was agreed that senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee continued its consideration of a draft report.
It was agreed that the report be adopted with the changes as discussed today.
It was agreed that the chair be authorized to approve the final version of the report with any necessary editorial, grammatical or translation changes required with the assistance of Senator Bellemare for the French version.
It was agreed that the chair be authorized to table the report in the Senate, at the earliest opportunity.
It was agreed that the chair seek approval from the Senate to deposit with the Clerk of the Senate a report relating to its study on the use of digital currency, if the Senate is not then sitting.
At 11:42 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
