The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day, at 7:53 a.m., in Salon F of The Albatross Hotel, Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Lovelace Nicholas, Manning, McInnis, Munson, Poirier, Raine and Wells (7).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament, and Ceri Au, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate of the Senate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee proceeded in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 7:56 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 8:06 a.m., the committee resumed in public.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, December 9, 2013, the committee continued its study on the regulation of aquaculture, current challenges and future prospects for the industry in Canada. That the following revised special study budget application on aquaculture for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015, be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:

After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The Honourable Senator Wells moved:
That coverage by electronic and photographic media of the committee's public proceedings today be allowed with the least possible disruption of its hearings.
