The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:31 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Chaput, Cordy, Dyck, Eaton, Eggleton, P.C., Enverga, Ogilvie, Seidman, Seth and Wallace (10).

In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, the committee continued its study of the subject matter of Divisions 5, 10 and 11 of Part 3 of Bill C-4, a second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 21, 2013 and other measures.

WITNESSES:

John Beckett, Chairman, Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

Walter Manning, Director, Health, Safety and Industrial Relations Training Fund.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Manning, Mr. Farrell and Mr. Beckett each made a statement and, together, answered questions.

At 11:59 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
